Because of that Cadiz built various fortresses and defensive walls and plenty of watchtowers. There were about 160 of them in the 18th century and the tallest amongst them is the Torre Tavira. Today, the Torre Tavira has been one of the beautiful highlights of the city that has been rushed with many tourists. It is also the sanctuary of the “camara oscura” which is a set that involves a magnifying glass and a concave drum that would give the tourists the chance to view the fascinating city below. Cadiz (pronounced as Ca-deeth) is the capital of the province of the same name in the Spanish region of Andalusia. It is a tiny peninsula on the southern tip of Spain.
